Get to Know Eliza

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to get into a career path that would make a difference in people’s lives. This interest led me to study sociology and psychology at Clemson University and then obtain my Masters in Social Work at Boston College in 2014. In 2017, I obtained my Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), the highest level of social work licensure.

I've worked in the social work field for over 10 years in a variety of settings. I have experience working with all ages around the day to day struggles we all have as well as more significant needs such as substance use, domestic violence, severe mental health needs, and more.

I am committed to the well-being of all my patients and go above and beyond to cater to their needs.

Why Positive Approach Counseling

What Makes Me Stand Out

Small and Local

I am a Chelmsford resident running my own business to help others in Chelmsford and nearby towns. Unlike large agencies, I am able to work with you around your needs without red tape and policies required when overseeing tens or hundreds of employees.

My Approach

I have a firm belief that everyone can benefit from therapy. Our world is complicated, confusing, and overwhelming - and new stressors seem to arise with each passing year. Wherever in your journey you find yourself, I will meet you there; using strength-based and solution-focused therapy modalities to improve your quality of life.

What to Expect

Our initial meeting will be low pressure while we get to know each other through a brief assessment. Over the first few sessions, we will identify the focus of treatment, spell out specific goals, determine whether additional supportive services are necessary, and clarify terms of service. Each session is primarily client driven, dependent on your needs, desired pace, feelings, and experiences.

Most clients come once a week for 45-50 minute sessions

Choosing A Therapist

Choosing the right therapist is a crucial decision on the personal journey you've started by seeking therapy. The right therapist for you is more than just thinking the clinician is 'nice' or you 'like them'.  You want someone that you can feel comfortable and safe with even when sharing embarrassing or traumatic memories. You should feel confident about bringing your truest, deepest self forward in sessions, and not every clinician will be the right fit for you.

If I don't seem like the right fit, even after a few sessions, I would urge you to seek mental health support from an alternative therapist or resource rather than giving up on therapy completely. We don't usually marry our first romantic partner, and neither should you feel stuck with the first therapist if they aren't right for you.
